Organic onesies and baby clothes that give back, at Target

Baby Buggy's clothing line at Target

July 7, 2010 - It's no longer just the adults who get the high/low mix of fine-looking wares at Target. Two baby lines, Little Seed and Baby Buggy, have done collections for Target, which will be carried in the store until mid-October.

Little Seed, the organic baby clothing line (as well as adorable boutique on Larchmont Avenue) which was started by Soleil Moon Frye aka Punky Brewster and her business partner Paige Goldberg Tolmach has hit the shelves of Target stores, offering reasonably priced, organic baby duds to moms who want to dress their kids in natural materials.

The 100% organic cotton line is similar in design to the one they sell in their own boutique and includes brightly colored solid booties, beanies, onesies and pull-on pants and ranges from $7.99 to $12.99.

Baby Buggy isn't organic, but does come in much more whimsical patterns like fun frog and girly butterfly prints. Also,10% of all sales will be donated to founder Jessica Seinfeld's Baby Buggy charity which provides basic necessities to families in need. The line includes onesies, T-shirts and pants as well as diaper bags and layettes. Prices start at $3.99.

Lansinoh Donates 250 Double Electric Breast Pumps and Breastfeeding Support Products to Baby Buggy

Donation to New York City non-profit provides low-income mothers with Lansinoh personal-use breast pumps and nursing supplies

NEW YORK–June 21, 2010– Lansinoh Laboratories Inc., the company behind the #1 breastfeeding accessories brand, has made a donation of more than 250 breast pumps and over $5,000 of breastfeeding support products to Baby Buggy. The New York city-based non-profit is dedicated to providing families in need with essential equipment, clothing, and products for their infants and young children. Lansinoh's gift consists of Lansinoh® Double Electric Breast Pumps, Lansinoh HPA Lanolin, Soothies™ by Lansinoh Gel Pads, Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads and Lansinoh LatchAssist™. The supplies are aimed at helping mothers initiate and continue with breastfeeding.

“Data shows that low-income mothers are less likely to breastfeed their babies despite recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and many other medical experts,” says Gina Ciagne, Certified Lactation Counselor and Director of Breastfeeding and Consumer Relations for Lansinoh Laboratories. “That's why we chose Baby Buggy as the recipient of this donation. The women and families they assist deserve support in their efforts to continue breastfeeding so they can experience the many health benefits that come along with it. Breast and nipple therapies can help ease any discomfort that may be discouraging in the early days of breastfeeding, and a quality pump is essential to maintaining breastmilk supply when moms return to work. If a Lansinoh product helps a mom provide breastmilk to her baby for just one week longer, it will be a huge success.”

With more than 500,000 children under the age of five living in poverty in New York City, Baby Buggy has been a positive force on the social service scene. Since its founding in 2001, Baby Buggy has helped thousands of families through its extensive network of community based organizations, distributing more than 4.1 million new and gently used items. The non-profit's goal is to ensure children's safety and to improve the parenting experience for mothers and fathers who struggle to provide for their families.

“Breast pumps have raised to the top of the list of most requested Baby Buggy items this year,” says Katherine Snider, Executive Director of Baby Buggy. “The mothers we serve struggle to keep their children healthy and safe. We are grateful to Lansinoh for their very generous support which will allow hundreds of mothers to extend the breastfeeding experience.”

Jessica Seinfeld: Teaching Her Kids By Example

By Moms in the City

Jessica Seinfeld is our Role MOMel of the week. What is a Role MOMel? It's our term for moms making a difference and doing amazing things.

Last night, more than 1000 parents and kids got busy in the Big Apple to support Baby Buggy, an organization that is reaching hundreds of thousands of children living in poverty in New York City. Since it's inception in 2001, Baby Buggy has been delivering equipment, products and clothing to infants and children in need. Baby Buggy sponsored it's annual event in Wollman Rink's Victorian Gardens in Central Park.

We caught up with Baby Buggy founder, wife of Jerry Seinfeld and mother of three, Jessica Seinfeld to talk about teaching her kids how to give back (with a tiny interruption from an excited toddler).

BABY BUGGY ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBER: ALI WING, FOUNDER & CEO OF GIGGLE

New York, NY, May, 3, 2010 - Baby Buggy, the New York-based charitable organization that provides essential products, clothing and gear to infants and children in need, announced the addition of Ali Wing, giggle™ Founder and CEO, to its Board of Directors.

“Baby Buggy is delighted to welcome Ali Wing to its Board of Directors,” said Baby Buggy Founder & President Jessica Seinfeld. “Her tremendous insight into both children's brands and parenting issues and trends make her a great asset for Baby Buggy. We are very lucky to have her.”

A graduate of Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and Law School, Wing worked for a broad range of businesses including Fortune 500 companies and environmentally focused start-up brands before launching giggle in 2003. Since that time, the store has grown to 12 locations nationwide and Wing has become a parenting resource through her books, columns and regular TV appearances.

“The recession has been particularly tough on the families that Baby Buggy serves,” said Baby Buggy's Executive Director Katherine Snider. “We're thrilled to have a business leader like Ali Wing step up to help New York City's most vulnerable families in this time of great need.”

In addition to working with Baby Buggy, Wing also lends her support as a Board Member for the New York Center for Children, serves on the Director's Council for the Children's Museum of the Arts, and is the Executive Director of the Tecumseh Foundation, a group founded by her father that awards education grants to children. Wing also created giggle Cares, which includes the “Giving Makes Cents” and the “Think Pink” Eco-Friendly Blanket Breast Cancer Awareness programs.

Ali lives in Manhattan with her husband and son.

In many ways NYC is the land of plenty. We're a city that can afford $1000 strollers and cashmere sweaters for baby. With all this wealth we often forget about the poverty in our midst. More than 500,000 families are living below the poverty line in our city and we can make a difference by supporting Baby Buggy.

Since 2001, Baby Buggy has delivered over 4,000,000 essential items to thousands of families through a network of over 50 qualified social service partners (they didn't reinvent the wheel--they simply funnel gear to the neediest folks). Jessica Seinfeld (yep, Jerry's wife) decided to be the conduit and tap her network to gather new and gently used baby gear to families in need. It's a win-win proposition. We moms clear space in our closets and give moms in need a helping hand.

Last month we took a tour of the Baby Buggy offices. We were so impressed with the facilities--every square inch was packed with well-organized products ready to ship out. No fancy schmancy offices, no plush carpets. The eight staff members are there to maximize every gift and every dollar that finds its way to Baby Buggy.

What they need: Clothing, baby gear and strollers

The two USED things they can't take: Car seats and cribs (but new items are welcome)

High on the wish list: New breastfeeding supplies and diapers.

How you can help:

Donate your new and gently used items: Ask yourself, "would I pass this item to my girlfriend?" if the answer is yes, bring it on! Call to organize a pick up: 212.736-1777

Host an event: If you are hosting a baby shower have all your guests bring a donation for Baby Buggy.

Attend an event: Thursday, June 3rd is the Annual bedtime bash. Click here ticket info!

Give cash: Baby Buggy uses cash for operations and to supplement the donations with new products, such as diapers and breast pumps. Click here to give!
