Baby
Buggy, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting gently
used and new gear and clothing for infants and young children and
distributing these items to families in need in New York City.
Dear Friends
It is with tremendous pride that we prepare Baby Buggy's first annual
report. We are deeply grateful for the support and collaboration that
we have received from our donors and social service partners.
Since we were founded in 2001, the primary objective at Baby Buggy®
has been to ensure that all parents and families in the five boroughs
of New York City have the means to provide clothing and gear for their
infants and young children. In the past year we have made great strides
towards reaching this goal.
The fiscal crisis in New York City, coupled with high unemployment
and homelessness, has left more families struggling to provide the
basics for their children. As an organization that serves many city
funded programs, the past year has given Baby Buggy the opportunity
to demonstrate the importance and necessity of what we do. In this
climate of increasing need and decreasing funds, Baby Buggy has added
30 additional social service programs to our list donation recipients.
We are currently distributing over 1,500 items a week to families
in need. This dramatic increase in the service that we provide is
primarily due to three factors; successful outreach to corporate gear
and children's clothing manufacturers for product donations, the expansion
of our volunteer workforce to include intergenerational opportunities,
and outreach to individual donors through nursery school drives.
Baby Buggy now:
- Serves over 50 New York City social service programs in the
five boroughs.
- Receives donations from more than 350 generous families,
- Receives hundreds of hours of volunteer time,
- Has distributed over 80,000 items since September 2002, and
- Has received over $300,000 in corporate product donations since
September 2002.
The support of our donors, volunteers, and social service partners
is deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping Baby Buggy serve the
children of New York City.
Sincerely,
